The Pet Shop | Free Days Out

This might sound sad but we had the best afternoon at the pet shop on Saturday. We often take our puppy there when we’re stocking up on food because to him it’s like Disneyland crossed with Heaven. He loves socialising with other dogs and of course there might just be a few treats dropped on the floor to gobble up. At the weekend however, we were babysitting two girls ages 4 and 7 and when we nipped into Pets At Home to take advantage of a great deal on dog food they begged to stay longer (and longer and longer) to the point we ended up staying in the shop for about 2 and a half hours and are firmly acquainted with each and every animal in the shop.

They had the best time looking at fish, reptiles and rodents and even got to handle teeny, tiny rabbits during a special petting session the shop hosts on Saturday afternoons. The children learnt loads and spent the rest of the afternoon, once back at Thrifty Towers, drawing pictures of fish, bunnies and all manner of little scurrying pet-folk. The pet shop is a great place to learn and feed the knowledge of inquisitive children and they’re already asking to go back. And Jarvis had a great time too!
