Stick with me a second whilst I indulge myself in a spot of fawning over a seven pound dog. You see dogs in our house aren’t just smelly beasts you take for a walk every morning but they are family. Jarvis is our first poochy pal and today is his birthday. He turns a grand old age of 3 and is as adorable as the first day he came to live with us.
Although to strangers he might seem gruff and mean he is actually very sweet, caring and loyal. He wouldn’t hurt a fly but he wants to let the flies (and everyone in the surrounding postcode) know he could hurt them if y’know…he could be bothered. Which he couldn’t…unless you’re a C.A.T.
Jarvis has helped me through a lot. Suffering with depression and a chronic illness can be a heavy weight to carry even when you have a very supportive husband and friendship circle but Jarvis takes it on board and genuinely cares without me having to worry about boring him to tears or running his life with the magnitude of my ill health.
When I’m well enough Jarvis coaches me through to just a little bit of fitness with our lovely long walks and ball throwing sessions. When I am sick and unable to walk him (don’t worry he always gets at least two walks per day from my husband) he cuddles up to me and buries his head into my neck for a cuddle. Many people think loving a dog or thinking a dog loves you is daft but I say YABOOSUCKS to them because I love this guy and he loves me almost as much as he loves tennis balls and that is A LOT.
Today Jarvis went to his favourite place in the world – doggy day care and shared homemade mini (after all he himself is very mini) pupcakes with the doggy gang and now he is home for cuddles in front of Homeward Bound (yep he watches and growls along) and a delicious bit of chicken as a birthday treat.
Happy 3rd birthday Jarvis, you foxy faced little chap.
