Fusion with Hamilton
The city of Hamilton merged Dundas with Dundas in 2000. It is no longer considered a separate town but a Hamilton community. My family was one of them, and they fought against amalgamation.
We all put “Dundas Forever” stickers on our cars and windows. They decided to create Hamilton, a “super-city” that includes Dundas and other communities. Dundas’ spirit and community live on.
It is a popular location for filming movies and TV shows due to its 19th-century historic architecture. Dundas was the location for TV and movie productions like Man of the year, Haven, the West Wing, and The Incredible Hulk. Locals find it thrilling to see another movie being shot in their town. Usually, everyone attempts to mix with the stars.
Ben Veldhuis Cactus Greenhouses was once a well-known cactus grower in Dundas. The town’s first ever Cactus Festival was held in 1976.
