I’m going to say this and you’re going to think I’m mental but I love lids. They’re so useful for organising your home. What the frick am I talking about eh? Well it’s not rocket science but I should indeed explain myself. The lids on top of bottles, spray cans, jars etc. are endlessly useful around the house so please keep them and repurpose them as something useful rather than throwing them away. I’m a cotton bud fiend, I have them in little stations across the house. In my make up area, near the front door for fixing mascara blobby bits before I go out, in my bathroom cabinet, in my nail varnish tin…loads of places.
The tin from my old dry shampoo can works wonders at keeping them together in the bathroom cabinet and an old hairspray lid does the same with cotton buds in my nail varnish tin. It keeps them clean, it keeps them together and it makes life just that bit easier and smoother. Plus using a lid is a lot, lot cheap than buying something from an organisational or homeware shop. Bargain. In the study they’re perfect for housing paperclips, mini pegs and bulldog clips, drawing pins, USB sticks etc. They keep everything easy to spot but neatly organised and best yet, they’re free. The slightly deeper ones are just perfect standing a dirty paint brush in for cleaning and flat lids are just right for a grubby make up sponge or brush which might stain your drawer or dresser with foundation. I use an old cold cream lid for all of my filthy foundation sponge needs.
The large boxes and lids from perfume boxes are perfect for storing bangles and bracelets, I use an old Love by Chloe box to keep my bangles together in my drawers, they’d be all over the place otherwise. On another note those large boxes you get perfume in are perfect for organising your underwear drawer. Teeny tiny tids from hair products are perfect for little clusters of hair grips too. Can I be the only one who finds these everywhere? EVERYWHERE. People of Lidfordshire – USE YOUR LIDS. As long as they’ve got a flat bottom they’re just the kind of lid-dy perfection you’re after.
