Usually in this corner of England, blackberry season is a few weeks later but here they are cropping up left, right and centre in Greater Manchester, we even spotted some at the end of July! Dog walks around these parts now feature a clean carrier bag (the bag bed comes in is very handy) or plastic tub strategically inserted into my handbag or jacket pocket in order to take advantage of any delicious berries we might come across on our walk.
We have been enjoying berries with a dollop of Greek yoghurt for a quick pudding, mixing them through porridge for breakfast in the morning and of course the obligatory apple and blackberry pie has been baked in the oven. We have also been slinging a good amount into the freezer to get us through the gloomy winter months check out my blackberry freezing tips along with my blackberry picking tips.
