Baby Lotion Recipes

Make your own DIY baby lotion. You probably have coconut oil, butter, and essential oils in your medicine cabinet. You’ll never buy expensive baby lotions again after you learn how easy it is to make your own.

When it comes time to care for my baby, I am very particular about the ingredients. They must be safe and natural. You can’t pronounce the majority of ingredients anymore when you read them on products. My last three children, out of six, have really sensitive skin. I bought the most natural, scent-free baby lotions and wash I could find. But these things are not exactly budget-friendly, you know.

In the last few years I have started making my own baby care products and toiletries. It’s much cheaper and easier than you think! In a matter of minutes, I can make enough DIY baby oil to last six months for just a few dollars. You can do it too!

This homemade infant wash is also worth a shot!

This lotion can be scented with essential oils for babies who have very sensitive skin, or you can leave it unscented. You can make these products from scratch and customize them to your liking.

Coconut oil is good for newborn skin.

Coconut oil can be used on baby’s skin. Coconut oil is naturally moisturizing, and it can be used to treat eczema in babies or acne. This is great for babies who have very sensitive skin, as it contains no chemicals or fragrances. This is the perfect ingredient to make DIY baby lotions and other skin care products.

Can I use raw shea butter on my baby’s skin?

It is safe for all skin types, including newborn babies. It moisturizes without chemicals, sulfates, or parabens. Shea butter is rich in vitamins A and E and has anti-inflammatory properties. This can help to treat eczema flare-ups quickly. It’s a great thing to keep on hand for your baby!

What you need to make DIY baby lotion at home

  • Organic raw Shea Butter: Softens and soothes skin. Shea butter has anti-inflammatory properties, making it an excellent ingredient in homemade baby care products.
  • Organic Coconut Oil: is antibacterial, antifungal, and rich in fatty acids. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that can be used on sensitive and new skin.
  • Beeswax Pellets: Adding beeswax helps your lotion feel less greasy while moisturizing your baby’s face.
  • Sweet Almond Oil: has healing properties, which make it useful for baby acne and eczema. If you only have Jojoba Oil, it’s a great substitute.
  • Vitamin E Oil: is rich in antioxidants and has been known to have healing properties. Vitamin E oil can nourish and protect your baby’s skin.
  • Essential oils: For babies, it is important to select essential oils that are gentle, as little ones may react badly to certain scents. You can leave out the essential oils if your baby’s skin is very sensitive. This is my favorite brand.
