I’m a primer girl. My pores without primer are akin to moon surface craters, they’ll suck in foundation and waste my money plus they age me and make me look a real mess. I’ve tried just about every primer out there in my quest to shrink the appearance my pores under my foundation. Some have worked for a few hours, some have cost me a fortune and others have been utterly rubbish. I recently thought I was on to a winner with Benefit’s Porefessional after trying a sample which came with Glamour magazine early in the year. It filled in my pores and gave my skin a smooth appearance plus it kept my foundation on my face longer than my usual 37 minutes. It’s great stuff but the £23.50 price tag is hard to swallow.
My latest budget primer find is VIVO’s Perfect Skin Primer coming in at £5.99 from Tesco or the VIVO website. When I first received this I found it a bit of a ‘meh’ product. It felt very similar to other clear, silicone based primers I’ve tried in the past – gel like with slightly oily feel once on the skin. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything to write home about. I kept on trying because I always like to thoroughly try out products before mentioning them on my blog – who wants a review from someone who has only tried out a product one time? What I discovered is this primer doesn’t work any differently than other primers when used with cream foundations (which I’ve been given a whirl recently) and using it with a brush gives the same ‘meh’ result too. However applying a liquid or gel foundation with my fingers over the VIVO Perfect Skin Primer gives an amazing velvety finish, it hides away my pores and, and, and it keeps my foundation on for hours and hours. I’m pleased as punch to have this in my kit, who doesn’t want the appearance of lovely velvety skin. Do you wear primer. Do you have any budget primer recommendations.
