Primers can be controversial in the beauty industry. Some people swear by them, while others don’t notice any difference in their makeup’s longevity after applying a good primer. As a professional makeup artist, prepping your skin for your complexion products is an essential step in my beauty regimen. I love a primer that can help me get the job done. Milk Makeup’s Hydro Grip primer seems to be one such primer. The formula was recently virtualized on TikTok. I was skeptical, so I tried it out. You can read my complete review of Milk Makeup Hydro Grip primer. I’ll tell you if it’s worth the money.

ABOUT OUR BRAND: Milk Makeup has been a pioneer in the beauty market for many years. Many Milk products are multifunctional and can express yourself and encourage creativity.
About My Skin: Sensitive and acne-prone
Since I was a teenager, I have suffered from acne for years. I get irritated by stress, hormones, or dairy overuse. I know this and am very careful about my skincare routine. I use gentle products to soothe my sensitive skin. My skin is cleansed with CeraVe Foaming Skin Cleanser (view at Amazon). My skin is moisturized with the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser (view at Amazon), and my prescription retinoid cream is used every other night. This has been my daily routine for a few years and has helped me keep my breakouts at bay. My moisturizer is light but hydrating and makes my skin appear plump and soft. This is how I like to look, so I was curious about Hydro Grip Primer’s performance on my skincare products.
How to apply: Use your fingers or a makeup sponge to do the job.
The Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer is cool, semi-watery, and gel-like texture. It spreads easily and evenly. The consistency of this product meant that I had to press the pump twice in my hand before spreading it on my skin as a moisturizer. Milk Makeup suggests that you apply the product to your skin with your fingertips using the back of your hands. However, I believe either method is fine. You can also use a brush made of synthetic fibres to distribute the product onto your skin.
The results: Beautiful, fresh skin
Hydro Grip took one minute to absorb my foundation. I was immediately impressed by the soft, natural glow of my foundation. The primer provided everything I needed in a primer. It was hydrating, soothing, illuminating and long-wearing without looking artificial. The Hydro Grip Primer was translucent, so it blended well with my skin. It also improved the appearance of my makeup without making my skin look shiny (as many primers that claim to give you a glow). I was concerned about my T-zone being too shiny, so I was even more amazed that Hydro Grip Primer didn’t require extra touch-ups. Hydro Grip has niacinamide which helps balance oil production. Hydro Grip Primer is the product that I would gladly pay for.
Hydro Grip Primer is the exact product that I would gladly pay for.
The Value: Worth it.
My beauty routine includes a radiant glow. I buy products that give me that glow, no matter if I’m wearing foundation. For 1.52 fl. of primer and the high-performing ingredients in it, $30 is a fair price. Oz is a tad pricey. It would be much more appealing if a few bucks reduced the price, but I think it would still be worth it, even at $30.
