Here is the day. Polling day for the UK general election (and local elections in England). Have you voted?I’ve been to my polling station in the rain, cast my vote and felt that uplifting buzz. I’ve chatted to the old men and women about the changes in politics they’ve seen since they have been able to vote. Listened to them talking about how disappointed they are in the people under forty who don’t vote.
Please vote, I don’t care who you vote for (well I won’t lie, I would love to get ‘my’ party in but I shan’t turn this into a political diatribe) just go and put your mark on the ballot. Even spoil your card if you don’t know who to vote for. The vote in this country has been available to women for LESS THAN 100 YEARS!I shall be taking an election disco nap this afternoon in preparation for staying up all night to watch the votes returned and tomorrow has been booked off work for sleeping purposes. The worst outcome of any election is apathy – if you don’t like things the way they are, push for change. Please exercise your right to vote today. You have until 10pm to cast your vote.
