Last year we started our blackout nights here at Thrifty Towers (read more here) but then we ended up ripping our house to pieces and it went out of the window for a while. Now we have a more stable environment to live in, we have decided to re-implement (is that a word?) blackout nights. In a world so saturated with bright over-stimulating screens, be it for work or leisure, having time away from them for even one evening per week feels great. In fact it feels revitalising, rejuvenating, lots of other ‘re’-words and I’m sure my sleep is boosted ten fold on black out evenings.
We’ll be having a blackout night this evening, why not join us in an evening away from screens, phones and instead relax with a book, a board game or oooh conversation? How does it work? Simply turn off anything with a screen at 7pm. Say bye bye to laptops, tablets, phones and what have you and do something else. Listen to those CDs you have listened to in years, read a book, write, take a long bath, go for a walk – anything – literally anything that doesn’t involve a screen.
