Aloe Vera Leave In Conditioner Recipe

0

A leave-in conditioner is great for frizzy, dry hair. It can also be used on naturally curly hair and other hair types that need moisture, softness and extra TLC.

A natural leave-in hair conditioner has many benefits. Use it to detangle your hair before washing it, and while combing out dead hairs. Use a leave-in hair conditioner to hydrate, soften, and protect your hair after you wash it. Spray at least 2 inches away from the hair and up to the tips. Avoid the scalp or your hair will feel heavy and greasy.

If you do not have the time to wash your locks but still want them to look fresh, you can use a leave in conditioner. You can dampen your hair using a spray bottle and then apply your homemade leave-in conditioning product. Or you can spray the liquid conditioner directly onto your hair.

Basic Leave-In Conditioner

This recipe is a great one to use for hair that needs moisture. It’s also light and won’t weight down your hair like some other recipes. This spray-on hair hydrator and refresher is applied with a spray.

This leave-in conditioner can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups aloe vera gel
  • Coconut water 2 cups
  • Jojoba oil 3 teaspoons
  • Four drops of lavender, orange or lemon essential oils

Steps

  1. Add each ingredient to a sprayer bottle large enough to hold 4 cups of liquid (or 1/2 the recipe, if you have a smaller bottle).
  2. You can use any essential oil you like to scent the product (or none).
  3. Shake the bottle well before using and spray liberally. You can then comb it or brush through or spray the product and scrunch your hair if you have curly locks.

Honey Coconut Conditioner

This recipe, made with honey, will strengthen and fortify hair. Coconut oil will prevent hair breakage, and will smooth the hair.

Ingredients

  • Coconut oil 2 tablespoons
  • 4 tablespoons aloe vera gel
  • Honey 1 teaspoon
  • Sweet almond oil, 1 teaspoon
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 4 drops vanilla extract (optional)

Steps

  1. If your coconut oil doesn’t seem liquid, you can heat it up a little to make it liquid. Honey should be added to warm coconut oil. Mix until honey is completely dissolved.
  2. Mix aloe gel, water and vanilla extract in a spray bottle.
  3. Spray bottle: Add the mixture of coconut oil, honey and sweet almond oil. Mix again.
  4. Now your leave-in conditioner will be ready for use. Spray on the conditioner, working it into your hair. You might not need to use too much depending on the thickness of your hair.

Always shake the coconut oil before use. You’ll have to heat up the coconut oil (and mix it) again if it solidifies. You can do this by placing it at the edge of your shower or tub while you shower. The heat will melt the coconut oil.

Coconut Milk Conditioner

Coconut water is richer, fatter and more concentrated than coconut milk. It can be purchased in cans. Coconut milk leftovers can be used to make this leave-in conditioner.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup coconut milk
  • Coconut oil, 1 tablespoon
  • You can use less water for a more thicker spray.
  • Jojoba oil, 2 teaspoons
  • 4 drops grapefruit essential oil

Steps

  1. If it is not liquid, warm coconut oil.
  2. Add coconut oil, water and jojoba to a sprayer bottle. Add coconut oil and essential grapefruit oil. Shake well.
  3. Spray the product on hair. Start with the ends. (You may or may want to avoid something so heavy at your roots. So, see how it goes on your drier hair first.

The spray will last for about 10 days if not refrigerated. Keep it in a dry, cool place.

Light Rosewater Conditioner

This recipe is for the lightest leave in conditioner on the list. It’s perfect for those who have thinner, softer, or less frizzy hair.

Ingredients

  • Rose water, 1 cup
  • 1/2 cup aloe vera gel
  • Sweet almond oil, 1 teaspoon
  • 3-4 drops rose essential oil

Steps

  1. It is easy to make rose water. Simply collect organic rose petals and combine them with 4-5 cups distilled water in a pot. The rose petals should lose their color after 20 minutes of simmering. Then let the petals cool and then strain them out.
  2. Add rose water to aloe vera gel in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle to combine.
  3. Add the rose essential oil to the sweet almond oil, and then shake again.
  4. Spray liberally to refresh and condition hair.

The spray bottle will last several weeks if you store it in the refrigerator. Shake the spray bottle well before using.

Enriching Balm for Dry hair

This thick balm is applied using your fingers, not a spray. This is best for frizzier or drier hair as it’s rich and can weigh down lighter hair.

Add more conditioner for extra conditioning power. Up to 4 teaspoons per cup water. Add distilled water to the top, mix well, and use. This spray helps to tame and fight frizz, giving you great-looking hair without much effort.
