We thought it was about time that self-tanners took the place of sunbathing (at our own health’s expense) to achieve bronzed skin. Many women have gone one step further to eliminate chemicals from their tanning regime by making their own self-tanning product in the kitchen.
It may seem strange to make your own self-tanner at first. My biggest fear is that I will accidentally stain all my cabinets brown. We should be wary of products with a long list of unknown additives.
The founder of Handmade Beauty Box. She said, “Look at the ingredients in your bronzer at home.” “Do you know half the ingredients?” Most likely not. It’s probably time to simplify your bronzer routine. Use natural oxides and micas to match the ideal colors of your skin, without a ton of unnecessary chemicals.”
We has created her own natural self-tanning recipe. But before we share it, we asked her to give us some feedback on the most popular DIY recipes that we found online. The cost is as follows:
Black tea method
Pour the liquid over 8 bags of organic black tea and let them steep for at least 8 minutes. Pour the liquid on 8 tea bags of organic black, and let steep for 8 minutes. After you have exfoliated, remove the tea bags and let the tea cool.
This is worth trying! I’ve never tried this recipe, but I’ve read credible blogs that claim it works and the before-and after pictures look good. This will come off easily with water contact. So, if you plan to use this DIY tan at the pool or in rainy weather, be sure to seek shelter.
Cinnamon and Spice
Combine the following ingredients together: 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder, 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa powder and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg. Add 2 teaspoons of cornstarch, 15 drops essential oils like lavender, rose otto or rosemary.
I would scrape this recipe entirely as cinnamon isn’t something you want to use on your face. It can be a skin irritation and skin sensitizer.
Cocoa and lotion
Apply 1/4 cup cocoa mixed with natural white lotions or lotions with SPF.
It would smell great (and it’s not harmful), but from what I read, it rubs off easily and goes on streaky. I don’t think I would like chocolate on my skin. “I do use cocoa for lip balms and soaps as a natural coloring agent. You can mix it up with beeswax or shea butter for a fun nude-tinted lips.”
Tea and coconut oil
Steep three or four black tea bags with about 3/4 cup hot water. Blend 1/3 cup cocoa butter and 1/2 cup cocoa powder in a blender while the tea is brewing. Add 1/2 cup sesame oil or coconut oil to half of the black tea steeped. Blend, then add the remaining tea.
It will be difficult to mix the cocoa butter with the coconut oil and black tea, as it will likely separate without an emulsifier. The end result would be a bit streaky and would look like the cocoa lotion recipe.
Oysters and beans, seeds
According to several websites, eating foods high in copper like oysters and soy, as well pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and lima beans, can increase melanin.
“I’ve read that carrots and tomatoes are natural tan superfoods. However, no medical professionals has proven the amount you need to consume to see results. I eat tons of kale each day and, while it has skin benefits, I am not convinced that I get a tan. These foods are rich in antioxidants and vitamins that promote clear, even skin.
We suggests the following DIY self tanning recipes. Her bronzing cream recipe, which uses aloe lotion, gold sparkle micas, bronze micas and burnt-sugar fragrance oil. You can also try this body bronzing recipe, which uses a coconut citrus sorbet base and 1 tablespoon dark bronzer.
Exfoliate the skin before applying self-tanner. “When applying any DIY self-tanner, make sure to blend, mix, and blend!” Make sure to check your tan under the sun and adjust your color if necessary. You can use DIY bronzing powder instead of liquid to bronze your face naturally. Highlight your chin and cheeks. Also, highlight your nose, forehead, and nose if you are using the DIY bronzing.
You’ll be able to thank your inner goddess for it.
