It’s been a while since I had look around the make up sections of the various pound shops near to Thrifty Towers but my mascaras have all been used up and around 75% of my nail polishes were smashed when we moved, so I decided to have little look see at what’s on offer right now. Here’s what I picked up, let me know if you’d like any specific reviews.
POUND SHOP MAKEUP GALERY
I shelled out £9 and picked up the following.
1. Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in 002 Radiant Rose
I have previously used Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation and whilst the lightest shade was a little dark for me, it was workable and I enjoyed the results. So I leapt at the chance to try more of the range for just £1. This product works as a shimmery blush come highlight and is lovely for summer or just an awakened rosy glow. It does have some fairly visible glittery chunks so it can be a bit full on for daytime.
2. Double pack containing:
Collection 2000 Skyscraper Mascara This is a mascara I have raved about time and again and will always pick up when it is on offer. It lengthens my lashes, doesn’t clump them together and the wand makes it easy to apply to lower and outside lashes.
Collection 2000 Super Size Mascara I actually mentioned this mascara in my blog post, so it was like striking gold picking this up in a double pack. A fab buildable mascara which gives great volume.
3. Maybelline Express Finish 40 nail polish in 155 Fuchsia
This is the kind of colour I tend to wear on my toes on a year round basis and after the great nail polish disaster of 2014 (nail polishes kept in tin, someone lifted tin by lid, lid came off, nail polishes and nail oils SMASHED) I thought it would be nice to have this type of shade in my stash. I haven’t tried it out yet but I’m always really happy with this line of nail polishes from Maybelline.
4. Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer in The Deepest of Violets
This shade really reminds me of OPI Eiffel For This Colour which was one of my shades that smashed all over the road. The deepest of violet is a great name because that is exactly what it is – so deep it could almost be mistaken for black and a shade I live for October-April.
5. Rimmel Metal Rush nail polish in 60 Royal Blue
I loved the mermaid-y-cum-peacock colours of this nail polish. Is it green? Is it blue? Is it purple? Is that gold running through it? Or is it silvery? Yup magpie tendencies over took me and I have no real further reasons for buying this but I’ll let you know how I get on with it over time.
6,7,8. Maybelline Baby Lips
I picked up three for £1 each and
9. A double pack containing:
Liquid Liner by BarryM in no.6
Oddly I’d been looking for an eyeliner in pink for a fancy dress event I have coming up and what better deal than getting it for 50p.
Shimmering Eye and Lip Crayon by BarryM in 3
I have quite a number of these and use them on a regular basis so this iridescent pinky shade is perfect to add to my collection. I use these pencils as a wash across my eyelids, as a highlight under my brown bone or on occasion as a cheek highlighter. These items all came in at £1 each or £1 per double pack but I’ve linked to the cheapest places I could find them online purely so you can read things like ingredients etc, reviews or see better pictures – it’s worth trying your local pound shop it you want to find these bargains but remember not all shops sell the same products.
