Moving house and unpacking has caused my hands to look like those of a road builder circa 1900, my grandma told me best of her homemade hand softening trick that apparently worked wonders on my grandfather’s hands care (a farmer) when he came back with hands extremely rougher or dry than a brillo pad. He used his homemade lotion to soft his hand .
What you will need:- 2 tbsp lemon juice
– 2 tbsp of sugar (either granulated or caster sugar will do, I’ve used golden caster sugar just because it was close to hand) add more if you need it
– 1 tsp of water
MethodMix the lemon juice and sugar together in a bowl (with a knife, I know not why) and slowly add the water drop by drop (you may not need all of it) until it forms a light paste.
How to use:Smooth the paste over your cracked or rough hands or skin, rubbing in lightly. Allow to soak in for about 10 minutes before washing your hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water.
Who knew my octogenarian pops was such a metrosexual, eh?
