My friend C is a spa-day-once-a-month kinda gal whereas I’m firmly a make-your-own-face-mask-with-oats-and-slap-in-on-your-face-in-the-bath kinda gal. We decided to hit the middle ground and treat ourselves to a cheap as chips at home pamper day to fight the dirge of bleak mid-winter. First off we each took a shower (separately, you smut-monger) and rubbed away the winter blues with heart patterned scrubby gloves (if you’ve read my post about shower scrunchie doodahs, you’ll know why we didn’t use those) and slathered ourselves with a rather delicious and rich, Moroccan oil and orange blossom body lotion before climbing into newly warmed on the radiator pyjamas and the best ever thermal fair isle socks. Then we poured a couple of G&Ts (God damn that Aldi gin is a hit for the price), lit a few candles, grabbed the Gilmore Girls boxset, filled up hot water bottles and set about a round of daft pampering.
First off we took some argan oil hair treatment and rubbed it all over the ends of our hair before shoving it up in a pony tail and popping on a very fetching and kitsch shower cap. And then came the hilarious bit, applying the face mask. We used collagen face masks from Home Bargains and I have to say they are the oddest things in the world! They come out of the pouch as a wet, slimy cloth mask with holes for your eyes, mouth and nose and you simply place it on your face and sit back for about 20 minutes whilst the mask does its work. After marching around the living room pretending to be zombies estate agents (no, I don’t know why either) we took the masks off and patted the residue into our skin. My skin was left feeling firm and taut (but not restricted) and nicely hydrated. The masks are only 69p each so they’re a nice thrifty treat every month or so and I’m pleased with the results they gave.Next up we painted each others nails which took me straight back to school sleep overs. We both opted for Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish, which is a pretty expensive polish but it lasts forever without chips and applies like a dream. And then Gilmore Girls, far too many episodes and gin, lots of lovely gin.Pampered within an inch of our lives! Bliss.
