Firstly ask yourself this simple question - WHY DO I WANT TO BE ORGANISED?
Honestly why? Why do you currently feel the need to become an organised person? Do you often feel the urge to spend hideous amounts of money on containers and file dividers, why oh why? Have you at any point in your life spent months trying to sort out your shit and ended up back at square one? If so why continue? You're still alive, you've survived as a human without labelling everything in sight - so why do you want to become organised?
Secondly - WHICH ELEMENTS OF DISORGANISATION TRIP YOU UP ON A DAILY BASIS?
These are often small little things such as forgetting to take the rubbish out to the bin, forgetting to take a bag to the supermarket, missing the train and having to wait 5 minutes for the next, spending an age rifling through your handbag, or worse emptying it out on a table in public trying to find that certain something you need. Not huge problems but they can give you small unnecessary 'grrr moments' throughout the day.
Third - WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM MY LIFE BECOMING ORGANISED?
I always find when embarking on a new lifestyle or even changing something small in my life, that I feel more positive about it when I start to see the benefits of my actions but also when I realise that others may do too.
Who will benefit in your life?
Will your children make it to school on time?
Will you spend less time fighting with your partner about your home being a disaster zone?
Will your work colleagues find their load is lightened as you manage your time and space?
TASK
1. Below in the comments section or just in your note book at home, I want you to write down one reason you'd like to become a more organised person.
2. Again in the comments or in your note book write down the 3 key areas you find organisation lacking on a daily basis. Sure it might be missing from every element in your life but which three areas impact you on a daily basis.
3. Write down the name of one person who will benefit from you embracing organisation.
TTFN,
P.S. Do feel free to use the 15 DAYS TO AN ORGANISED NEW YOU button on your blog or Facebook if you're taking part - you can find it here in a variety of sizes, make sure to link to this page so your readers or friends can find all of the posts in the series.
P.P.S. I'm looking forward to reading your 'homework'

I want to be more organised so I can do more exciting things instead of doing homework!
ReplyDeletepurpleowlramblings.blogspot.co.uk
1)I would like to fit more into my daily routine.
ReplyDelete2) Housekeeping, Morning routine for general up and at emness, Food shopping and healthy food prep
3)Me! I know that's obvious but I'm not making sure that I'm looking after meself at the minute.
Cheers!
I desperately want to become more organised so I actually have time to myself, at the minute I'm struggling to fit work, chores and general day to day life into a 24 hour day and I don't feel like I have anything to show for it.
ReplyDeleteThe main area I'm lacking organisation and probably could split into three catagories on its own is housework. Laundry is my biggest bugbear and I desperately need to start working out a system, then generally keeping the house clean (dishes being left for days on end etc) and organising all the STUFF I have. I'm trying my best to start this journey to being more organised and have already made good progress on food shopping/cooking by teaching myself to meal plan, so if I can do it in one area of my life why not everything!
The obvious answer to who it'd help is myself, which is really what I'm looking for but I would also love to be able to teach my husband organisational skills too and then we can both live together in a harmonious CLEAN & TIDY home without any need to argue over who's doing the chores after a long day at work!
1) I always have a battle within my mind as to whether I am an organised person or not. I get to places on time, I always remember dates and times, whether I jot them down or not... but I'm so messy and like to spread my crap everywhere (not literally!).
ReplyDelete2) I have a chronic illness that makes day to day chores more difficult and is hard to upkeep with cleaning/tidying routines. I'm also going to do an MA part-time 2 and a half hours away from where I live now, which means I'll have to be super duper organised if I want to stand a chance!
3) It would benefit the boyfriend a hell of a lot to take pressure off him as he is pretty much my personal slave/ house husband despite having a full time job.
I would like to be more organised so that I can actually stop worrying if I have done something!
ReplyDeleteMy areas that are lacking in organisation are:
Washing and Ironing
Remembering to buy birthday cards
Arranging dates with friends
Thanks
1) I want to be more organised so I have more time for the things and people I want to have time for.
ReplyDelete2) College mainly, meetings with friends and cleaning.
3) My boyfriend, friends and me by making more time through being organised for all 3 :)
Thank you thrifty! :)

1) I want to be more organised because I want to have time for the important things in life ( i.e. my familiy)
ReplyDelete2) College stuff, cleaning my room and time organisation
3) my friends and family will benefit from this because I'll have more time for them by being more organised (:
Wow what a good idea. I used to be more organised but in the last couple of years it all fell apart. I always am saying I need to get more organised but never really thought about, or certainly wrote down why.
ReplyDelete1. I want to be organised because I am so much happier when I am, it seems to affect all other aspects of life especially money and health.
2. Firstly business paperwork then housework
3. Me, but I also want my kids to see how better life is when you are organised.
1) I want to be more organised so I stop double booking myself!
ReplyDelete2) Using time productively in terms of work, chores and hobbies.
3) Me really, but also my boyfriend and cat as im a lot more chilled out when I know what im doing! Im also hoping my soon to be here on earth baby will benefit from me being an organised mum.
x
I want to be more organised because it is a HUGE stress reliever. Being able to put my hand right onto the very thing I need would be fantastic.
ReplyDelete1- I want to be more organised so I don't come home from work frustrated that the house is a mess and it is my fault!
ReplyDelete2- I need to be more organised when it comes to time management, my morning routine(or lack of it) and general household chores,
3- I want to be more organised namely for myself, so I have more time for fun!
Like the other people who have posted, I want to be more organised so that what little free time I do have I'm not running around desperately trying to sort things out at the last minute.
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather have this time for knitting, reading and sleeping! :P

To feel more domestically in control, so the other things in my life feel more possible. I've never been shown or "learnt" how to do domestics so I can't wait to learn.
ReplyDeleteI want to know more about being a domestic goddess! Cleaning routines really being my biggest hole of knowledge.
I think i'll be the person who benefits most, and beloved husband will of course bask in my reflected glory...
Let's get started!

1. Because I spend half my time looking for things.
ReplyDelete2. Paperwork - I have papers, reading material and notebooks everywhere.
Photos - I take gazillion photos on my SLR and phone and need to organise them badly.
Make up - I have a dressing table full and then some to sort out.
3. Me! I have serious health issues and need to simplify my life. xx
Just me Leah
1. I want to be more organised because I feel better with a good routine and less stressed. Messy and disorganisation flares up my depression.
ReplyDelete2. Personal projects, like my novels or comic book, college work and time management. I have terrible terrible time management
3. Me primarily, but it will make my college lecturers happier too, and maybe any one that enjoys reading my stuff?
1. I want to be able to find my things easily. Finding them easily and having items readily available means I'll actually get my monies worth out of products cause I'll actually use them.
ReplyDelete2. My makeup definitely needs to be organized. As well as my closet and accessories.
3. I'll benefit. Me and me alone.
Hello! :) Here is my 'homework'
ReplyDelete1. One reason why I'd like to become a more organized person:
Physical clutter, for me, creates mental clutter. When my place is a disaster, I cannot focus on anything else because the room around me is so distracting! I'd like to get organized so that I don't have that nagging thought of "I really need to clean/organize this space" and can get on with more important things.
2. Three key areas of my life that I find are lacking organization on a daily basis:
Floordrobe vs. Wardrobe
The Bank of Me
Media Overload
3. The name of one person who I think will benefit from me being a more organized person:
Definitely my boyfriend.
I'll be participating in this on my blog! Very excited to get the ball rolling!
xx

Thank you so much for this helpful series!
ReplyDelete1. I want to be more organized to relieve the stress and anxiety involved with my unorganized life!
2. my craft room and crafts, my photos and digital files, and my housework and bills.
3. My husband will benefit greatly living in a more organized environment!
I would love to be more organized, to be able to find things for projects more quickly, cook dinner faster instead of washing dishes the while time because i couldn't find another spatula, and be able to know exactly where things are instead of hoping its in that pile over there! And everyone in my house would benefit! Less stuff strewn about, I'm 100% sure both D and I would be happier with home!
ReplyDelete1 I want to become more effective, to take better care of the house&myself
ReplyDelete2 missing busses, forgetting stuff at home, getting really stressed.
3 well..me! And my boyfriend
1.I want to be organised to actually have something done. Right now my kind of chaotic life makes it hard for me to have things I need to and want to have done, done.
ReplyDelete2. My finances are really, really unorganized. So is the general cleanliness of my apartment (funnily though, I am live in nanny, and I manage to keep the host family`s apartment neat and clean o.0 ) also my general timing (is that a word?) skills or time management skills are lacking badly.
3. Me. I will get things done and not so much time is wasted trying to handling the chaos. Also my host family, since I am sure I will do better job when I am bit more organized.
1 - love to be more organised in getting in to a get fit or at least get fitter mode.
ReplyDelete2- incorporate more into my daily routine so I am doing more fun stuff - seemingly the more you do the more energy you get = happy days
3- I would benefit and all the people around me would benefit as Id get more done and have more time
P.S fantastic idea for a blog post.

Oddly, as someone who formerly had anxiety and stress-related illness, I have had to go through the OPPOSITE to this. Learning it's OK to be late sometimes (it isn't, but it's not worth a panic attack over), that it's OK to have a house that looks bit untidy at 11pm you can leave it till the next day to tidy up...
ReplyDeleteMy major aim is to organise priorities, as whilst on the surface I seemed to be super organised but actually I was just finishing things right-then-right-there and making myself ill. I wasn't organised at all- I was firefighting and letting the tiniest judgemental look from a stranger totally hijack my day/plans. Saying 'no I will do that later' and not feeling it means people will think badly of my is my main 'getting organised' aim!
1. I don't want to waste time looking for things
ReplyDelete2. Places I lack organisation: my grown up paperwork, my general cluttered belongings - things I just shove in drawers & my wardrobe is basically a floordrobe
3. My boyfriend - my scatterbrain mentality annoys him
Looking forward to starting! :) x
1: more organised because - i need to fit my craft and my house work in. at the moment the house gets left and i live up to my undomesticated title!
ReplyDelete2:my kitchen and the bathrooms
3: i would benifit. i'll hopefully feel less guilt ridden about how scanky my house is! and my kids, i wouldn't mind them helping in the kitchen if there was more than a slice of breads space on the work surface!
1: I want to be more organised because I am sick of looking at clutter and I want to have my things stored nicely and properly rather than put in that safe place that no-one can ever find.
ReplyDelete2: My bedroom needs a complete organising overhaul and also my dining room as this is where important paperwork is kept which needs sorting. Plus my dining room houses my small bookcases which need to be organised, too.
3. I would benefit mainly because if my room is nicely organised, I know where things are and I'm more likely to keep it that way. My mum would also greatly benefit because she would have a tidy, organised dining room and she would be able to access her files and things without having to ask me where things are.
1. I want to be more organized so that I spend less time running about like a headless chicken in the time I have at home and I can get things done quicker.
ReplyDelete2. Places I lack organization - work, clothes (mine and baby's!), mornings - getting everything ready to get out of the house.
3. I want my 9 month old son to benefit so that we can make the very most of the 3 days a week, evenings and mornings we have together now that I'm back at work 4 days a week.
I would like to become more organised because I'm in my 2nd year at Uni, and I want to emerge from the other side with a good degree. I want to be proud of my time there and be able to say it was worth it. I also want to become more organised so I have more times to do the things I love such as drawing. I really would like to start an etsy shop selling art prints but first I need to organise myself.
ReplyDelete3 areas I'm currently lacking in:
1.) Uni work - I'd like to be able to keep up to date with readings and start essays/revision early etc.
2.) Blog posts - hopefully if I organise my Uni work well I can line more blog posts up. I feel like I don't post that much (even though I want to) because I'm just usually frustrated about all the Uni work I've left to the last minute.
3.) General stuff e.g. returning parcels. I want to get it done asap rather than leaving it late.
I think I will benefit most, but also the people around me because it will make me a happier person.
xxx
I love this
ReplyDelete1) I work full time but am a writer and performer in my other life and need to make room to do that writing and getting more work in performing
2) I'm not too bad but could clean out all of my cupboards to make better use of my limited space
3) Who'd benefit: me, my friends and of course the future readers of my writing!
This is a brilliant idea! I need to get organised- my husband has to think for both of us sometimes so I'm sure he'd approve!
ReplyDeleteIn short:
1) I want to be more of a "wife"
2) I have no idea where most things are in/around the house
3) I'd love to save money, time and stress by running a tighter ship!
I've gone into a bit more detail on my blog (www.prattleandfroth.blogspot.co.uk) if anyone fancies a read :)
Looking forward to the rest of this series!
i would like tothank you for this brilliant idea, I feel it is time for me to enjoy my life and this is why I need to be more organised.
ReplyDelete1- I need to change my life style
2-I lack organisation in housekeeping especially my cupboards I hardly find clothes in the morning. Even I am single but I don't have the ME time, last atwork.
3- I will personnally benifit fromthis exercise.
Thanks again
I enjoyed reading people reasons for needing more organisation in their lives! For I want to be more organised because I feel not being organised enough is stopping me doing some of the things I want to.
ReplyDelete1)I want to feel that live is fuller but calmer
2)I want to keep the house looking nice as I *know* this will help me feel better when working from home
3)I want to really grow Missy Vintage as a service this year - I need to be organised to get this to it's potential.
Great post! :) xxx
ReplyDelete1) To make life easier! 2) Books, Beauty and Jewelery 3) Parents!

I saw this series of posts and decided to wait to read them properly until I had time to actually follow this guide. I love you and your posts. You always make me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteI'll be responding to these posts in blog format at http://thespendingdetox.blogspot.co.uk/ - first post goes up today.

I want to be more organised so that I can spend more focused time with the kids, rather than thinking about when I can slip away to put some washing on :)
ReplyDeleteI really love this series and I'm working my way through each step on my blog http://beautifullyindependent.co.uk/getting-my-life-in-order-part1/
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this series :)It's come just at the perfect time for me!
