The Under £5 Christmas Gift Guide

On Sunday I shared my alternative gift guide between £5 and £15 and today I bring you part two – my Christmas gift guide under £5. Yep, you read that right, a selection of gifts under a fiver.

£5 and under gift guide

1. Red Bow Belt
My best friend wears little dresses and sweet belts every day so I thought this red, faux leather belt with a red and gold solid bow detail. I think it looks a lot more expensive than £2.99 too.
2. Handbag Organiser
eBay, £2.25 from a reliable seller in Hong Kong or £3.99 from a UK seller. – Choice of colours available.
I’ve mentioned this a few times over this past year and I couldn’t let a gift guide slide by without slipping in. This handbag organiser slips into most handbags and has lots of little pockets and zip up sections so a handbag need never get in a mess and muddle again.
3. Manicure Kit
Wilkinson, £1
This sweet little kit comes in a zip up case and will make up the perfect gift if you team it with some nail varnish (MUA, Barry M, Rimmel and Collection all do some great quality polishes on the cheap and you can even pick up branded polishes in pound shops) in a pretty basket or tin.
4. Food For Free
Amazon, £3.74
This is the perfect gift for someone who likes to live an environmentally sound, or even thrifty lifestyle. It is the perfect pocket sized guide to foraging and finding edible berries and leaves.

Gift guide under £5

5. Gold bow and pearl detail hair slides
Primark, £1.50
On the black plastic packaging these hair slides come in they look a bit cheap and tacky but once you pull them off and repackage them into a sweet box (this is why I never throw away gift wrapping) they look a lot more expensive and pretty damn cute.
6. Hanging sign
Wilkinson, £2.50
The sweet little hanging sign squeals ‘home is where the heart is’ and is the perfect gift for any homebodies you may know. Team this with a cushion, big mug filled with cocoa and maybe some fairy lights and you have the perfect night in package.
7. Anchor earrings*
Cute, kitsch and fun, these little earrings made by a UK craftsperson, are a fun and cheap gift for any one who goes in for a bit of kitschy quirkiness.
8. Fox decoration*
I’m smitten with this foxy little hanging Christmas decoration. Complete with a glittery little santa hat this fox is my must have christmas dec for 2012.

  1. I love the purse organizer! The price is fabulous! I use one my daughter gave me five years ago and it’s the best! I put my most important items in it and can easily switch from handbag to handbag with a minimum of fuss. Good call Thrifty Mrs.!

  2. Really great guide! :) will definitely be picking up some of these bits. Thanks for sharing! xx

  3. I love the belt. I agree, it looks more expensive than it is! :0)

  4. That handbag organiser is genius! I always stick with the same handbag as I’m always afraid I’ll forget something if I switch between handbags. Loving the idea of a removable organiser that I can switch around…I may have to wait till after Christmas before I start treating myself though :)

  5. Great guide! I’ve been shopping in Wilko’s this year for wrapping paper and baubles, as well as couple of other bits (like faux leather notebooks for my dad!). It’s funny how this time of year you can easily forget about those good value shops you use all year round…love those Primark bows too.

  6. Great post, they also sell bow belts like that in Primark, i picked up a gorgeous mint green one :)

  17. I love that little sign! Oh my goodness, it’s so cute. And that little “ah I’m having a nice Christmas nap” fox is adorable. Nice finds Thrifty. x

  18. Great ideas. I recently made an advent calendar for a friend and bought lots of cheap little bits to go in there. Got some lovely socks and a necklace for £2 each in Forever 21 – they definitely looked more expensive than that!

  19. My dad needed a gift for Secret Santa for work and the lady he had, had written down on the list that she would like nail items and while we were in Wilkinson I remembered this post. The mini Manicure set was a brilliant piece to go with a few other bits and bobs he’d already purchased. Also I’ve just ordered the Fox Collar on your £5-£15 blog post, I’m in love with it! Going to try and wear it with everything and anything!
