Buy gift cards, save on fuel!

Image: Morrisons

This is actually a deal Mr Thrifty spotted when buying a gift card for our friend’s birthday, I haven’t been asked to post about this – I just think it might help a few people. At Morrisons, with the Morrisons Fuel Saver offer, when you buy a gift card from their selection of retailers (including lots of high street shops, department stores, cinemas, toy shops etc.) you’ll be given a coupon off fuel for the next time you top up at Morrisons. For every £10 you spend you get 1p off per litre.

Maybe you’re against buying gift cards or vouchers for gifts, we’re not mad keen on it unless someone specifically asks for one. However if you know you’re going to buy from one of the retailers Morrisons sell gift cards for, why not buy a gift card when you do your supermarket shop and use those to do your Christmas shopping? That way you’ll be parting with the same amount of cash and saving money on your petrol spend.
The retailers include:
– Topshop/Topman/Dorothy Perkins/Evans/Burton/Wallis/Miss Selfridge
– Boots
– Accessorize
– Toys R Us
– Cineworld
– JD Sports
– Next
– National Book Tokens
– TK Maxx
– Waterstones
– iTunes
– Debenhams
– House of Fraser
And loads more, you can find them all listed here.
I hope this is helpful to some of you and your petrol tanks too.

  1. My boyfriend spotted this while out shopping. He needed to buy a suit from Next for work so bought Next vouchers and got 14p off per litre. We are also thinking about buying a new TV from currys that costs £500, a lot of my Christmas presents for people came from boots which I bought vouchers for totaling £50. As a morrisons is close to my train, if I know I am going to the cinema I will get a wee voucher. Cheap fuel for a while for me I think!

  2. thanks for sharing)

  3. I’ve (very nearly) finished all my Christmas crafting! So happy, I was starting to think it would never be done in time. This would be such a good idea but at the moment I don’t know where I’m going to buy Christmas presents as I’m still just browsing :/

  4. I do a similar thing as you can get Nectar points on gift cards if you buy them at Sainsburys, so sometimes I buy them and then spend the giftcard in the store I’d have shopped in anyway.
