7 ways to reuse a tissue box

10/12/2012

reuse a tissue box Umm yeah, you read that title correctly - 7 ways to reuse a tissue box.  They're pretty nifty little things and often very decorative, so they can be used and rehashed as various different things with little or no effort.

7 ways to reuse a tissue box

1. Store your plastic carrier bags in them. Even though we have what feels like 1001 eco bags, plastic bags still seem to work their ways into our lives. We keep a tissue box filled with carrier bags in the boot of our car because it keeps them nicely compact in a small space and the hole makes it easy to pull out a couple when on the go.

2. Chop up that decorative card into various shapes to make gift tags. Team with some complementary ribbon and you're all set.

3. Use as scrap paper rather than just binning it. We use them to jot down a quick shopping list or directions. It's always best to try and get at least one further use out of everything you use.

4. Grab those craft scissors again and cut into thick rectangle strips for a simple and easy bookmark. If you're feeling very crafty you can jazz it up a little with ribbon, lace, paints or sequins.

5. Cut off the lid portion and use (with others) as a way to organise your desk or make up drawer.

6. Remove the top part of the box, put some soil inside, pop some seeds in and allow to germinate in this handy little box. The box is biodegradable so you're able to plant this box once the seedlings are well developed and sturdy.

7. Keep them in the front of your car (an in the back too if you have children) to be used as an easily removable bin for all of those sweep wrappers and fruit peel.

  2. Such good ideas!
Also, if I find a really pretty, but expensive, box of tissues that is in keeping with my room I will buy it, when it's finished I gently open one side and refill with tissues, (that haven't cost an arm and a leg), then using double sided tape, seal it back up and use again and again.

  3. They make a great cat toy. I place a ball of rolled up tin foil in there and it keeps him amused for ages trying to get it out.

  4. I've used them as bookmarks and labels, but never thought to use them as a plastic bag dispenser - good thinking!

  7. Stick an empty tissue box to a full one with an elastic band (side by side) then you can pull out a clean tissue, use and then stick in the empty 'bin' side (practical if you're suffering from a cold and don't want to be cluttering up the place with gross used snotty tissues :-))

  16. I've been using an old tissue box to store my wool/yarn, makes it easy to use without the ball unravelling everywhere as you just have one strand coming out the top of the box :)

  19. This has nothing to do with your post but I was at the supermarket tonight with my fella looking at washing up gloves and he said, aprapo of nothing, 'Which ones would A Thrifty Mrs choose?' then added "She'd probably fashion some out of old umbrellas."
It made me laugh as I didn't realise what an identity in my life you'd become.
But it did actually make me wonder 'which ones would she buy? The cheap home brand that don't last or the more costly ones that don't last much longer?" I don't have dishwasher so I need them to work well.

  24. I have a really cute one with owls I don't want to throw away.
I think I am going to cut the top off and use it to hold an extra roll of TP in my bathroom instead of buying those boxes at the store.
    Cheap, innovative, and decorative.
    YAY College life!!
