Last month I took a trip down to London to join some very thrifty folk as part of the judging panel for Savoo's The UK's Smartest Shopper contest.
I teamed up with The Guardian's Marc Lockley, fellow thrifty blogger Miss Thrifty and general manager of Savoo Simon Bird at a top secret location to decide who was worthy of the exciting title of UK's Smartest Shopper, a new blog and a £10,000 prize.
600 people entered the contest nationwide and the team at Savoo spent a long time narrowing the applicants down to the final ten - you can read their blog style entries here. On the day we had 20 minutes as a panel to
I'll be honest and say we had a hard time because the entrants were of such a high standard. These people know how to save money, how to claw back cash and how shop like a money saving whizz and all of them had great ideas and tips to share. Making our decision was a really hard process but in the end 28 year old mother of one from Peterborough Annie Stevenson claimed the prize with her savvy shopping skills and wow factor.
A big thanks to Savoo for inviting me aboard the judging panel and a huge congratulations to everyone who made it to the final of the contest, especially Annie - officially The UK's Smartest Shopper!
