Bonjour you sugar coated racoon of joy, Daily Housewifery Prompts are back. Back to the land of A Thrifty Mrs. We're sorry we've been away, sometimes blog features just need a holiday but we're back and feeling refreshed and renewed. Here goes!
A recap of what this thing is.
Question - What on earth is Daily Housewifery Prompts?
Answer -
A weekly list of simple tasks to complete in your home in order keep your home clean and tidy with an air of organisation. If a task isn't applicable to you then simply skip over it. Daily Housewifery prompts won't deal with everything you need to do in your home (here at Thrifty Towers we combine them with our daily cleaning routine) but these quick tasks will help just a little bit. It is our firm belief that cleaning and organising little often is much more pleasurable than giving up an entire day to cleaning before the in laws pop over.
Question - Why is keeping your home clean and organised a thrifty thing to do?
Answer - Have a quick read of this post on that very topic.
MONDAY --- Wipe down every mirror in your bedroom - even the ones in make up compacts etc. Vinegar, newspaper and elbow grease are key here.
TUESDAY --- Take your door mat outside and bash it against a wall to remove dust a grime. Clean with a stiff sweeping brush if needed.
WEDNESDAY --- Clean out and organise your fridge. Check back on Wednesday for a post dedicated to this.
THURSDAY --- Take the filter off the back of your hairdryer and with a dry toothbrush slowly brush across to remove any built up grime, hair or fluff.
FRIDAY --- Go through your sock drawer and remove any with holes. If you can mend them do so, if not - launder and give them a home in your pile of dusters.
SATURDAY --- Check you have anti-freeze and de-icer for your car and stock up (before prices shoot up) if needs be.
SUNDAY --- Make a meal plan for the coming week.
TTFN,
P.S. Have a good week and don't forget to use the Twitter hashtag #DHWP to keep updated with the daily tasks and interact with other DHWP-ers. You can also find me tweeting at @athriftymrsuk - come say hey.

I am unbelievably happy to see this back now that I've moved in with my partner. Our flat share was filthy until this weekend, a cleaning rota has now gone up (with recommendations that a little each day is easier than once a week) and daily housewifery shall now be in full force between T & I to keep our (very small) space sorted!

Something extra I'll be adding to my list is pulling out the dishwasher and cleaning the floor underneath it. I totally forget about it and it gets seriously grimey! xx
ReplyDeleteIf you can't manage the bashing a doormat against the wall (some people can't) lay it upside down on the path and trample over it. Amazing how much rubbish that fetches out.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back.
Love these tips, need to cleanse my hairdryer as well ha xx
