This past month has been a hard one, if you've read my post about depression or even watched my video you'll know I haven't been in a great place. I was going to struggle on with my blog when I wasn't up to it but I thought it would make me end up resenting it so I stepped away and only posted occasionally. I feel ready to come back, to post afresh and I feel excited about it. So that's where I'm at, what are you up to? Although I have lots of interaction over here sometimes it can be very one sided with you guys answering questions I've set and me not knowing much about you- please tell me something about yourself in the comments, a secret or little known fact.
Onwards with the shout outs. You see those pictures in the side bar? They're advertisements and they keep my blog ticking over. If you click over to visit the people who have very kindly sponsored A Thrifty Mrs you'll find all manner of exciting folk such as bloggers, crafters, vintage mavens and tres clever folk. You don't have to but I think exploration can be fun.
You can find out more about advertising on my blog over on my advertising page. The prices are in US$, so I've popped a link to a currency converter over there too. Feel free to email me at thrifty@athriftymrs.com if you have further questions though.
Dashing Divas
This description will involve chanting at the end. Try it. With a strap line like 'For Divas Who Dash' you know they mean business when it comes to running. Whilst I may not be errr...the most active of people, I can still really appreciate the effort and dedication that they put into different sports. Sian is a sweetheart too, I've been chattering to her online for years. We must meet, we must meet, we must meet. Chant with me.
Miss Allen
Miss Allen is the deliciously lovely lady who designed blog banner design. Clever girl, huh? If you're on the look out for design or illustration work get in touch with Michelle. I can heartily recommend her because she was able to translate my nonsense brief into something I love.
Well Rounded Retro
One of my favourite Internet people, like, ever. I'm a bigger girl myself and I have a love affair with retro and vintage but most of the time I can't get my left boob into vintage clothes. Well Rounded Retro specialise in sizes for the larger of bust. Oooh yeah!
Miso Funky
Miso Funky offer the most amazing cross stitch art, accessories and even phone cases with a very modern and cheeky twist. They even make and sell crafting kits so you can make your own cross stitch sampler. Having 'What would Nigella do?' on my kitchen wall might just make me breathe through my recent wave of kitchen disasters.
Hand Picked Vintage
These people really know their stuff about vintage. Not one of those vintage places who label a Dorothy Perkins dress from 2003 as vintage, you know the type. Carrying clothes and accessories for both men and women from the 1930s through to the 1980s. They are a one stop, online shop for really, really good vintage pieces. They even offer a sourcing service which just sounds like the best thing ever, ever.
Charlotte's Web
Charlotte's corner of the web (see what I did there) is a slice of beauty, style and observations. Charlotte documents life but it isn't 'and then I did this and then I did that' she has a refreshing style and irreverent wit. I like to think we'd be friends in the 'real' world.
Frivolous Mrs D
A vintage and organised treat with a fun and cheeky twist, be still my blogging heart. I can't get enough of Elena's blog, especially anything that features her bloody lovely taste in clothes and insanely good fringe. Fringe envy.
Vintage Manchester
My lovely friend runs this site and what she doesn't know about vintage events in Manchester doesn't need to be known. With event listings, reviews and interesting articles Vintage Manchester is a must read for vintage magpies in the North West.
Discount Coder
Discount Coder are sweet enough to post discount codes and vouchers so you can get a hefty chunk off your shopping. They help me out every Saturday by providing some of the codes for my Saturday Savings feature.Thank you DC!
Lily Mac
Lily Mac offer the most beautiful one of a kind silver and pearl pieces and even have a bespoke service if you want something really amazing for a special occasion. Gillian, the wonderful designer is a trained silversmith and never makes two pieces the same, I just love that.
Claireabellemakes
Bargain priced jewellery and accessories handmade by one of my favourite twitter shapped people. Her hair clips would make the best stocking fillers ever.
All About The Girl
Great trends and fab twists. Caroline a woman who *gasp* can't stand the smell of charity shops had a great blog which is destined for great things. A funny, friendly read - pull up a cup of hot chocolate and feast on all she has to offer.
Shiny Pigeon
I'm don't like pigeons, even the world fills me with fear but this shiny pigeon lady is one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure to encounter on these here webs of internet. She is currently planning a wedding and hoping to move house soon and she is a fantastic crafter - so there's always plenty to read about.
TTFN,
P.S. If you'd like to advertise you can find more information on prices, stats and packages here.

glad to hear you're feeling a little better, depression is really hard to deal with.

I'm glad you are feeling a little better as I really look forward to your blog posts. I've taken a wee break from my little blog life too but hopefully going to get back in the game today, I just lost my way with it for a few weeks and it became a chore rather than feeling the excitement I'd once held for it. My blog is a little bit of sanctum so I didn't want to 'taint' it with my feelings if that makes sense
ReplyDeleteSomething about me.... I've been single for four years and can't seem to catch a man with a big butterfly net! I'm only twenty six but a mum to an energetic nine year old and have a mortgage, busy full time job and a hectic social life so, I'm too responsible and mature for the guys my age but as I look quite young I'm overlooked by the maturer guy... Ah, I've shared too much haven't I? My fingers darted from key to key and before I knew it I'd given life and testament to my keyboard.
Thrifty, I am SOOOOO glad you're back. I've missed you. I have been a long time lurker, reading your blog but never having the confidence to post. Well, I've recently started a blog - partially due to your inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming back, I for one am looking forward to your postings!
Lee
Thanks for coming back Thrifty - I've missed your posts! Until recently, I was just a 'lurker' reading anonymously, but I have recently started blogging, thanks in part to being inspired by you!

Hiya, am a 53 year old, and a carer for my Hubby who is disabled and now has cancer. Spend my long days in the house making everything I can and pinching every penny till it squeaks. In my working life I was a charity shop manager and still love the places despite all the hard work wearing me out. My Hubby suffers from depression due to his situation so I fully understand how difficult things must be for you. Saw you on Superscrimpers and thought you were a lovely girl and now follow your blog as its fun and useful.x Vix
