Daily Housewifery Prompts

Daily Housewifery Prompts

I hope all is well out there, here at Thrifty Towers I’ve taken to swaddling myself in blankets and filling the bed with hot water bottles because the weather seems to represent a month far further into the year. I’m busy getting the winter clothes out from under the bed and making sure the wellington boots are fit for purpose. I like winter but know for it to be enjoyable I must prepare.

Here are some tasks, a few of which will hopefully help you transition into the colder months

Monday — Locate scarves, hats and jumpers. If they need laundering or airing – do so, then store them in a place you can access daily with ease.

Tuesday — Unblock drains and remove any build up of leaves.

Wednesday — Clean out and organise your fridge – Check back on Wednesday for a dedicated post on that one.

Thursday — Wash and launder any spare blankets so you have them at the ready.

Friday —- Check your bathroom cupboard and first aid box. Do you need to stock up on cold and flu remedies? Do you have enough throat sweets?

Saturday — Clean out your flasks and have them at the ready for day trips.

Sunday — Make a pot of soup and freeze half so you can warm yourself up further into winter.

  1. I know how you feel about winter creeping up too fast! I live in Canada and I’ve already had to put the heated blanket on my bed. It was so hot here this summer(sometimes close to 40′s), which is now hard to remember as I’ve been waking up to -1 every morning.

Sorry about my ramble… And thanks for kicking my ass into gear with these daily prompts.

  2. Will get right on locating all my scarves …also I know this is odd but I did not know you could freeze soup …now I feel stupid – in the next few days im going to fill my freezer with soup!

  3. I really need to sort out the fridge!

  6. Winter has approached us pretty darn fast.I have all winter clothes out located our hot water bottles.
Must clean all gutters of leaves as they get blacked during winter time.

  7. Me oh my how happy do I feel! I washed and aired, blankys, fleeces, scarves etc a couple of weeks ago when the weather was still good for drying outside. We also stocked up on lurgy remedies yesterday as the other half is already sniffling and this weekend I cleared out the fridge and freezer to make space for the 2 ma-hoosive batches of soup (+ 2 chillis, a bolognese and 2 stews) I made for wintery packed lunches and suppers.
I only discovered your blog a few weeks ago and am completely hooked!
    Now about those drains….

    • ooh lots of good ones today. I had a cooking day all day Sunday and got lots of soups ready for winter and a nice sausage casserole. Hadn’t even thought about cold and flu remedies, I will take some and leave them in my work locker too. No stores near where I work so have to ask colleagues if I’m ill.

  9. The final tip is the best… Me and my mum usually have a few days where we just stock up on veg to make soups galore! xo
