Today's polish hits that top limit of £5 and is really, really cool.

This polish is a Nail Pop by Look Beauty in the colour Cool Britannia* and comes in, as I say at £5. It is a great mixture of tiny glitter in a white-ish silver, red and blue. It gives an almost silvery-purple appearance from afar but closer up you can really pick out the red, white and blue.
I'm not in the swing of the Olympics like a lot of people (although I loved the horse events and wasn't the opening ceremony amazing?) so I haven't gone all out with Union Flag. However this seems like an easy enough and pretty enough way to celebrate the Olympics being hosted over here (some of the football has been held just up the road from us at Old Trafford) but I also think it isn't too obviously themed that you can't get away with wearing it after patriotic event.

Two coats of the polish brought opacity and I think one light coat would look really good over the top of another colour. It does feel gritty/grainy to touch which feels weird but a top coat dulled that texture somewhat. I'd also say it drys really quickly - super quick infact, it lost any kind of tacky-potential-dent-y-quality in less than a minute which is impressive. If you're sloppy like me and get a tiny dot of the polish on your finger move quickly to get it off because I'm struggling to budge the polish on my pinky.
I wore this for two days without a top coat and found it wore well, without any chips but I had to put on a top coat after 2 days because the texture really bugged me. So far, 4 days with only 1 tiny chip in sight. This is the first nail polish I've tried from Look Beauty, I'm highly impressed and will definitely be checking out their range further.
Cool Britannia is available from Look Beauty's website and Superdrug.
TTFN,
P.S. Which nail polish are you wearing? Will you be busting out patriotic nails for the Olympics Closing Ceremony?

I love painting my nails, but sadly due to my job only get to do it once in a blue moon. Last painted mine when I went to Dublin for my brothers wedding. Polish was from Primark (Penneys over there) and I think was only €1.50. It was a glittery on but required 3 coats to look good, however didn't need a top coat as the texture was quite smooth.
ReplyDeleteA really cool colour :)

I hate nail varnishes that take a while to dry and get tacky - Barry M ones do this! I love the colours of glitter in this one, I may need to give Look Beauty nail varnishes a go!
ReplyDeleteThis one was pretty much instant which I found surprising because it didn't look the type...if that makes sense?
DeleteI love the look of this. But glitter polishes always stick like shit to a blanket and even the tinfoil method bores the knickers off me.
ReplyDeleteWhat was it like to remove? Sometimes I'd rather just chop my fingers off and have done with it
I haven't tried taking it off yet but I'll let you know how it goes, I think it might be tough going.
Deleteooh sparkly I like it. You will have to tell us how hard it is to get off as I love glitter nail polish but it's a menace to take off :) x
ReplyDeleteThe colours in this are absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteCan't help thinking it would be an absolute nightmare to remove though! x
That looks really cool. It also might be cool as the top bit of a French manicure. Ouuu. :)

Hi have Claw polish in toxic. I got it for 50p and I love the greenyness of it
ReplyDeletethis is a really good dupe for nails inc jubilee!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that, for so cheap, the glitter is so consistent. I've purchased cheap glittered nail polishes before and the glitter was always very sparse and hardly existent. This is lovely!

I love the colours of this, but I think the texture would annoy me too much! I've been wearing the 17 summer nails trio, which are bronze, silver and gold in some nail art on my thumb nail :) xx
