ELF All Over Colour Sticks

As I may have mentioned before I have a hard time keeping eyeshadow on my lids, eyelid primer is a huge help but I also enjoy using a base like a MAC Paint Pot, Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoos and more recently ELF’s All Over Colour Sticks.

ELF all over color sticks

I have the ELF All Over Colour Sticks in two shades, the lighter Spotlight and a darker browny/bronze shade in Toasted (although they come in a great many other shades). I love them both, especially because they’re a bargain at £1.50 each. They are designed, as the name might suggest to work on various parts of the face but the colours I have, seem to work best for me in the eye area – I just can’t rock a bronze lip.
They come in a white tube which you twist and a clear lid to cap. They’re a bit like mini but fat lipsticks and whilst the packaging is fine, I find them a lot easier to use if I depot into a small jar or tub.

I like them both equally but for different reasons and that might be because the formula is oddly different. Spotlight is creamier and sticky feeling so I don’t go straight for full-on eyelid action with this one. I tend to use it as an eyebrow highlight, for a quick dab in the inner corners of my eyes and for a cheek cheek highlight. The colour is a light, almost champagne colour with a pearlescent finish. It blends well as a highlighter if you take time, and happily doesn’t add too much sparkle.

I do use it as a base for eyeshadow as it really evens out the veins I have on my eyelids but because the consistency is so sticky and just a bit too creamy I make sure to wear an eyelid primer underneath (I reviewed some budget eyelid primers).

Frametastic PicToasted is more stable in consistency and unlike Spotlight, it doesn’t tend to melt if you look at it. It doesn’t work as a highlight for me just because I’m so pale but if you have darker skin tone than oooh SNOW or have a hint of a tan it might work really well as a highlight. Where Toasted stands out for me is as as a base for eyeshadow. It doesn’t smudge, budge, melt, crease and the colour looks really good under a variety of shadows or even on its own for a subtle but pulled together look. No need for eyelid primer, I literally put this on when I leave the house in the morning and it is still in place when I come to take my make up off in the evening.

Have you tried any of these? Any recommendations for other colours or other ELF products in general?

P.S. DHWP went up earlier today, don’t forget to check it out.

  1. These look lovely :) So cheap too! Im after a nice cream highlighter that isn’t too shimmery. I’m very pale too so this might be one to try XD

  2. I’ve been using a few E.L.F. products lately, I’m enjoying their corrective concealer and eyelid primer! Sophie at Sophie Rose x

  3. I use their all over cover sticks (same size/shape as the colour sticks, but skin shades) as an alternative to foundation/concealer when travelling. Much lighter and creamier than Max Factor Pan Stick, but the same idea- a solid all-in-one base.

  4. Elf are really good but I’m not overly keen on these products, is it just me or do their products get messy really quickly?! Both consistencies look a bit gooey too.

  5. I have toasted and persimmon, i’m so going to try out toasted as a base. Great post Ax

  6. I was planning on getting a few of these on my next order haven’t seen many reviews. X

P.S. I love DHWP but plzzz Thrifty let me leave my bills unopened in the hall ignorance is bliss at the moment! X

  7. You have reminded me, again, to check this company out!

  8. These sound pretty good, I always make a list of e.l.f products to try and then do a big order, these are now added :) x

  9. They look a bit like the old pan sticks you used to get, but much lighter I would imagine. Interesting.

  10. Ohhhh these look really nice. It’s always a pleasure finding cheap products that do the trick, isn’t it?

Check out this giveaway on my blog :) Thanks http://abundanceoferica.blogspot.ca/2012/08/handmade-italian-leather-bracelets.html

  12. I have pink lemonade and I love it as a blush I think they smell nice too! x

  13. I’ve just ordered some ELF products, so excited! Really like these all over sticks, especially toasted looks so pretty!

  14. I’ve been desperate to place an ELF order for so long, the pinkier version of these takes my fancy. If I wasn’t pasty white I’d love Toasted!

  15. I can’t believe I don’t own Toasted… as a lover of Elf and gold eye looks, this discovery feels like Christmas to me. I have a pinker colour stick from Elf and it works nicely as a shimmery cream blush.

  16. You have just reminded me that I bought these and they are ina box under my bed! Must get them out! I have the same 2 shades as you too! x

  17. I really like the look of these, definitely going to have to get them soon! Toasted is such a gorgeous colour :) xx

  18. Like the look of the toasted one :) xxx

  19. I have one of the elf ‘all over colour’ sticks in golden peach… for some odd reason it has this nostalgic smell which I can’t quite pinpoint! I do love the colour though and its so shimmery,

  20. I highly recommend the shimmering facial whips. A cheek tint and highlighter in one it’s a product that wiped out all my existing blushers, illuminators, highlighters etc in preference of is. And this looks better on then all the other products on too. I use pink lemonade. It just makes me look dewy and fresh without any other makeup on so you save time and money that way. It’s good health in a tube. I used to be a makeup fiend but since finding this I hardly wear anything else. Just saying :D
