I'm in need of some shoes for the several squillion weddings, hen nights, baptisms and important meetings coming up this summer. I have a lot of high heels which I'm not really able to use whilst relying on my walking stick for getting around. Some of these events are really smart and the foxy, thin, non-broken women will be rocking heels and prettiest of shoes so I want to be part of the fun too.

These flatform-y/wedge-y type doodahs look just about doable for me. £17.99 here. Now which colour do I pick?

I could probably manage to pull off these wedges too but perhaps not for dancing until dawn. Having Mr Thrifty carry my shoes home is...ummm...classy, right? £19.99 here.

My friend bought these glitter loafters last week and maaaaaaaaaaan do I want some too. I was tempted by the black version but I fear they might make me look like an obese Michael Jackson. £11.99 here.
Oh, oh and I'm considering these flats for dashing to casual work meetings. I've asked a few friends what they think of these and opinions have ranged from 'fugly, UGH' and 'ZOMG buy them now. What say ye?
Things to keep in mind when buying shoes on eBay
- Check the sizing
eBay sellers are a law unto themseleves sometimes, so check what a size 7 really means. If necessary see if they have measurements and measure your feet. Check if the sizes are suitable to your region - are those UK or US sizes? Don't be afraid to message the seller.
- Read the feedback
As always read the feedback, always. I find this particuarly useful when buying from an online shoe shop because sometimes you just cannot for the life of your gauge how sturdy they are and what the straps, heels and fastenings are like.
Have you had any shoe bargains recently?

Oooh I love the look of those black flatforms! x
ReplyDeleteYes to the platforms, I wish I could wear peep toes. Noooooooooooooooo to the flats, you are far too pretty to even be in the same room as them.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the bright pink and blue flatforms! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI am heart-ing the orange platforms with the cream sole! I sort of orange-obsessed at the moment though!!!
ReplyDeletei've wanted the black flatform wedges for SO long! i've spent way too much money on eBay recently though so i'm trying to be good... :(
ReplyDeleteL x
I like the pink and teal flatforms, and the soft pink ones too! The wedges are nice too but I probably couldn't walk in them! I like the suede ballerina shoes, go for it!
ReplyDeleteI like the bright pink and blue flatforms, and the soft pink ones too. The wedges are fab but I probably couldn't walk in them! Not sure on the glittery shoes to be honest but like the suede ballerina flats!
ReplyDeleteI love shoes! Once I order some though, they're just too pretty to look at and I don't end up wearing them. Haha, I do have a similar pair of loafers there. Sparks up any outfit! :3

I bought a pair of pink sequined shoes from the charity shop next door to The Fountain in Bedford yesterday. £3 - I'm not sure if I'll wear them lots but I will wear them for my Fairy Godmother costume in a few weeks
ReplyDeleteAfter not wearing court shoes for the first 27 years of my life, I've finally found that DP ones actually fit and stay on my feet, without falling off or making me walk like a duck!
ReplyDeleteSo now I have a search saved on ebay and am buying up lots of new colours - all for a fraction of the price.
Also my best reverse ebay - I bought a pair of new look shoes for £5, they didn't fit (I couldn't walk in them!), so put them on ebay, and sold for £27! Hooray!
Love the top ones :) xxx

Love the second pair of wedges but I'm not sure about the flats... I don't think I'd wear them but I reckon you could pull them off. For £4.99 and returns available (although not on postage) I think it'd be worth a shot!

I love the last pair of flats, I fancy getting oth the green and the watermelon colours! xx
ReplyDeleteI adore those first wedges, So cute!! I recent got a great ebay bargain on these cute vintagey t-strap shoes, direct from China. They were so pretty and affordable, I bought two pairs! Here they are: http://vavoomvintage.blogspot.com/2012/06/blue-suede-shoes-and-bakelite-bargain.html
ReplyDeleteAh your Ebay posts are always so great and yet SUCH a bad influence... I've just treated myself to the first wedges in pink/blue, they just looked too gorgeous to not click 'buy'!! x
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at these shoes on Ebay recently. I quite liked a pair of green flatforms really similar to the ones in the top pic. Such a reasonable price too. Have you tried Daisy Street Shoes online? They've got lot of this type of thing and you could try using 'force10' for 10% off! A shop in my local high street stocks a lot of them xx
ReplyDeleteOoooh the platform sandals are really nice! <3
ReplyDeleteMight I also suggest www.everything5pound.com for shoes (of a suprisingly good quality)?
ReplyDeleteThey only do clothes for stick insects, but I have recently bought 4 prs of shoes and am very pleased with them! You do pay for postage based on weight, but if you send goods back they will refund the postage as well.
Btw - I did see they also had glitter loafers in several colours like the picture in your blog.
Definatley worth a quick peek.
:o)
I really like the first ones! Oh man, I don't need anything else in my wish list, I really don't!
ReplyDeleteThe flats for meetings look cute but beware of them looking too cheap (if you know what I mean).
Great shoes and great price! I love flatforms - you get the height and still comfy. My faves are the orange ones with the neutral coloured heel.
