Kitsch Finds

Folks, do we have a couple of seconds to drink in the sheer, beautiful kitsch-ness of my recent cheap-o, peep-o charity shop finds?
vintage deer
Ummm yeah. Yeah, fab or what? A beautiful orange fawn and some gorgeous (ah that colour!) snowflake Pyrex, be still my beating heart. Coming in at under £3, the lot.
Blue snowflake pyrex
Both found in one of mine and Mr Thrifty's favourite thrifting hot spots (I'll share more about that place soon) when we took a road trip down south a couple of weeks ago. Can I really have hit a such a thrifting high this early in the year?

Sometimes I toddle over to the windowsill where it sits just to stroke the fawn and sigh. I shall name her Cynthia! I don't know why. If you know anything about these deer please let me know.

TTFN,

P.S. Have you had any good charity shop finds recently?

  5. Gorgeous finds, Mrs T. Funnily enough, I've just been moaning on about the dearth of charity shop finds round my way. Although, I'm ashamed to admit it but I saw the peach/pink version of your snowflake dish with lid recently. And I didn't buy it. I know, I know, I'm a complete idiot.

  6. You are such a good shopper! I need to look closer at my local charity shops obviously! Cythia is gorgeous, and that pyrex actually made me swoon. xx

  7. Don't know anything about the fawn, but the name...my mums' middle name was Cynthia, and according to a list I had of names and their meaning, Cynthia means 'Goddess'. Quite apt in this instance!
Love that blue colour too. When I was a child I got given a set of white with blue stars plastic casseroles. As they looked exactly like the real thing you can imagine my surprise when, having put them on the barbie they began to melt!! Umm, old to enough that we could play with fire but not wise enough with heavy-duty kids' toys!
Thanks for popping over. Have a good weekend both of you!

  13. Hi- thanks for stopping by my blog!

I have had a really sad lack of good thrift store finds recently, pretty pathetic. Over the spring and fall I always find so many cool things though, so I am hopeful that this just means Boston has a "thrift season" and midwinter isn't it!

cynthia the fawn is a pretty sweet, quirky find. :)

  15. Christians sell the best things, they obviously dont think Mary Portess is a Goddess!!

  16. The Christians in all their varieties from the Sally Ann to the New Life seem to be the only charity shops that dont worship at the altar of Mary Portess, there are many that are full of wonderous things unlike those that look like a branch of George to be found on the high street. books that have had loads of lives, linens from another age, kitsch galore you just cant beat them

  18. Cynthia is gorgeous, but that Pyrex, it is beyond words. It is also EXACTLY the colour my Le Creuset teapot is. I must have one.

I think you just gave me my next 'small home thing' obsession...

  20. Excellent finds. I really want Pyrex in that color. I found a partial set once and didn't buy it when I saw it, came back the next day and they were gone :[ Cynthia is adorable!

  21. I adore that pyrex! Wow, where is this shop please?!

  22. I love these! Especially the pyrex dish, what a fantastic colour. Also the fawn would look great in my cocktail cabinet!:) I've found some pretty good charity shop booty recently actually. Paid a little more than I'd have liked for it but with so many charity shops being very vintage savvy these days its often the way

  23. Cynthia is such a fab name for a deer! I love the pyrex too - I only ever seem to find white ones. I bought a Berylware jug for 99p today but pickings have been thin on the ground recently in my CSs :-( X

  24. I want them both! I seriously need to start my Pyrex collection but I've never been able to find any!

    XO, Catherine.

  25. The pyrex is beautiful.

There are 2 charity shops in the small village where I live but their prices have gone up so much that I rarely visit them now, some items are even more expensive there than bought brand new in the shops!

  26. I love Cynthia! I have 2 little deer that my sister bought me, they are a bit like the babycham deer but not. I love them.

  27. Both are awesome! So jealous of your finds - I can never find anything good. I live in Manchester as well so I must be looking in the wrong places. :) xx

  28. Ooh, those are both stonking good finds. Sadly, the charity shops round my way are full of absolute tat at the moment - roll on the boot sale season!!
